Accounting: Journey from Biblical times to Convergence with IAS

Accounting, unlike popular beliefs, is not a modern phenomenon. It dates back to the early civilization of the Sumerians in Mesopotamia and the Egyptian Old Kingdom which facilitated the creation of accurate records of the quantities and relative values of the agricultural products. In fact, accounting is also mentioned in the Christian Bible (New Testament in the Book of Mathew in the parable of the Talents) and in the Islamic Quran.
